A 12 on a scale of 10… We ended the day with an amazing feast of our day's cooking class on the rooftop patio. We drank cocktails and sampled Mezcal. Frankly we didn't want to leave. Jorge and Beto...thanks for the amazing experience. We are now in the process of telling as much of Canada about Casa Jacaranda as we can! We will be back.

"It's little wonder that guests urge the Concierge to keep recommending it. As Agnes Ignacio –Assistant Chef Concierge at Four Seasons Hotel Mexico City– says, it's marvelous and completely different."

We had a wonderful time at Casa Jacaranda and can’t wait to try all the recipes at home! Thank you very much again for hosting this brilliant experience. I can’t recommend it enough.

"When all the food, the whole spread was transferred to the  the rustic table on the terrace, under the hundred-year-old jacaranda tree that gives this house its name. What a delight: to eat what you just made yourself, while you think that this pair's recipes have made it into the menu of a couple of Michelin-starred restaurants."

This cooking class was a wonderful glimpse into the culture of Mexico City. There was the chance to try street food, explore a market, and then go to Alberto’s home and cook! He has a lovely home and is happy to make recommendations for one’s time in Mexico City. I highly recommended this experience.

"Traditions around food and drink can help you explore and understand a specific culture, but each region in Mexico has its own culture and unique culinary traditions, which is why I chose to experience a full day at Casa Jacaranda…"

We had a great experience with Alberto. Totally exceeded our expectations. He was very well organized for the class, and very knowledgeable about the history of the local cuisine, the neighborhood, and the market. He added nice personal touch with old family recipes. We learned how to make tamales, tortilla soup, and tacos, all with fresh tasty ingredients. The food was delicious, the stories were entertaining, we learned a lot, and we had a lot of fun.

This class is fantastic. Such a wonderful afternoon and Alberto is an incredible teacher. You learn so much about the origin of the foods and he has fantastic recommendations about the rest of Mexico city too. And the space is so incredible. Highly recommend -- we had a great time!

"In a single class, a banquet is prepared from scratch–fresh tortillas, multiple salsas, fresh corn tamales, fish tacos al pastor, and sweet spiced pumpkin. As the sun sets, the Casa's jacaranda-shaded rooftop makes a fine location to enjoy it all."
Michalene Busico, Robb Report USA

This was the my favorite experience in Mexico City. Alberto was absolutely wonderful. The market experience was fantastic and educational in a very fun and exciting way. The walk to his home again was filled with knowledge and the tortilla shop was amazing! Class at his home was beyond what I would have hoped for, we immediately felt at home, it was just a perfect day. Oh, and having our lunch on his rooftop terrace was amazing. What a great way to spend my birthday!

"Not a cooking class, but an experience around which you gather with friends to share stories, or in our case, to talk about the things we love about our culture and our country [Mexico]"

This was hands down the highlight of my trip to Mexico City. Alberto is very warm and knowledgable and Casa Jacaranda is BEAUTIFUL. We learned how to make tamales and tortilla soup which we then enjoyed on the rooftop of the house among the blooming Jacaranda tree. It was truly special and I have already recommended this experience to my friends.

"The line between cocktail making and cooking is getting ever blurrier. When we enjoy a nice cocktail it is hard to imagine the hours of prepping–syrups, infusions, jams, extracts and garnishes–call for!"
Jorge Fitz, The Big Drinks Book Tequila Edition, Esquire Magazine Mexico

This was easily the most meaningful part of of our week in Mexico City. Alberto opened up so much what would have remained hidden about markets, ingredients, and Mexican cooking. Plus, he is kind, inspiring, and fun. This class is for both novices and the experienced cook. This class is even a great one for introverts, like myself. I gained a lot of confidence that was useful when shopping and ordering food for the rest of the week and was able to access more of the nuances in terms of eating in CDMX. When I return to CDMX, I will take another class with him and, in the meantime, will be recommending the class to everyone.
